CROP DIVERSIFICATION IN HARYANA: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT                                    

Agricultural diversification is generally observed as a shift from from the regional dominance of one crop to another crop. Main objective of this study is crop diversification in Haryana. This study based on secondary data which have been collected from statistical abstract of Haryana various issues. For analyses crop diversification in Haryana used Herfindhal Index. On the basic of Herfindhal Index this study found that in Kaithal district the area under cereals and commercial crops is diversifying and area under oilseeds, pulses and vegetables and fruits are showing concentration. Ambala district is not showing diversification towards any group of crops.
