Abstract: Diversity and ethnicity serve to be the foundation of Indian culture. In reality, the Poor tribal section of Odisha, a significant part of this aborigine cultural richness, has its own story to unfold. Being a victim of subjugation, alienation, isolation and repressed psychological states for ages, their performance in General Studies and English Language, in particular, had faced a significant blow. This paper examines thoroughly the causes for the low-level proficiency of English among the tribal students of Odisha in their intermediate standard, concerning their socio-psychological background and temperament in the backdrop. Through case studies and questionnaires, it statistically analyses collected data with graphical representation. Further, It brings out some interesting analysis of language learning and acquisition elaborated with error analysis of the students of Odisha, India, which is an unattempted research area. The facts are analysed, which are the result of real surveys and questionnaires. The data of the paper is interpreted using tables and statistics.
