THE EFFECT OF SUPPLEMENTARY PAYMENT SYSTEM, INTRODUCED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC ON THE PERFORMANCE OF HEALTHCARE PERSONNEL: THE CASE OF TURKEY

Abstract

Objective Apart from child care, psychological support, free transportation, providing accommodation, supplementary payment has been given from revolving funds to healthcare workers that work in front-line and have given out during Covid-19 pandemic process in Turkey. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of supplementary payment system, introduced due to Covid-19 pandemic, on the performance of healthcare workers.

Methods The study was carried out with the method of electronic questionnaire between 01.04.2021-30.04.2021. 626 healthcare workers participated in the study. 35.6% of healthcare workers that participated in the study stated that they had partially adequate information regarding supplementary payment system, and 34.5% of them stated that they did not have any information. In addition, 47.3% of healthcare workers stated they support the supplementary payment system.

Results and Conslusions According to the findings obtained from the study, correlation coefficient between two variables was found as statistically significant. In other words, if there is an increase in any variables, it is expected to an increase in other variables. According to standard regression coefficient in the study, 1-unit increase in Satisfaction from Covid-19 Pandemic Supplementary Payment System variable is expected to cause 0.217-unit increase in performance variable.
