THE DIDACTIC PERSPECTIVES OF ONE – ACT PLAYS: WITH REFERENCE TO RIDERS TO THE SEA

Abstract

The one-act play in English has developed into an independent and interesting literacy from which has a sufficient dose of all components to impart high pedagogical value for teaching language. New methodologies to teach this potential literacy form enables the second language learners to acquire basic language skills. A representative one-act play, Riders to the Sea is reflected to propagate the idea that if properly used, it could be tapped to develop the communicative skills of the learners. Different methods of utilizing the one-act play for classroom interaction and language competence is explored with an example.
