Abstract

In the last decade, there has been an expansion in the interest in the accounting literature regarding critical success factors in e-business. Many vital factors are considered to be related to the value creation of e-business. The context of the hotel industry is of great interest to researchers for two reasons: 1) the hotel industry is one of the essential sectors influencing the national economy, and 2) there is a lot of research on the success of e-business in the hotel industry. The researchers explore the impact of technological capabilities (TC) and knowledge management (KM) on e-business success moderated by competitive intensity (CI) within the hotel industry. The researchers then developed five hypotheses through intensive and in-depth research on the previous literature on TC, KM, CI, and e-business success. The researchers sent a questionnaire to collect data from hundreds of hotels in Indonesia starting from October 2019 to December 2019 to test the hypothesis. Using the Structural Equation Model with Warp-PLS to analyze the data, the results show that: 1) TC and KM have a direct effect on e-business success, 2) CI moderates the impact of TC and KM on e-business success; in other words, it can be said that when CI is high, the impact of TC and KM on e-business success is positive and vice versa when CI is low, the impact of TC and KM on e-business success is negative.
