Abstract:

This study deals with a thorny literary issue that is still searching for a way for the research community and literature studies to unveil it, however, it has not led to this way until today, which is the issue of “alienation of literature”.  There are many kinds of literature, critical studies, and research about the phenomenon of alienation (as a literary phenomenon) about the poet and writer or creator.  The current study sheds light on the alienation of literature – as creative work – in society. This phenomenon and research into the social and cultural transformations may lead to this alienation of contemporary Arabic literature, especially that literature is considered the mirror of the society’s culture and thought.  The culture of society may be the main factor in the prosperity, vitality, spread, and implementation of literature in mind, or it may be a factor for its alienation and its distance from the Arab mind and cultural and intellectual zone.  For previously mentioned reasons, the current study (The alienation of contemporary Arabic literature. Reading on social and cultural transformations) was conducted. The study tried to monitor transformations and know-how what led to this phenomenon that deserves research and studying. Because literature- was and still- is, the civilized, intellectual, and moral measure of any society.
