Abstract

The study was taken up with the purpose of finding out the Security and Insecurity feelings among Male and Female Doctoral Students. 300 sample size of doctoral students (150 male and 150 female) was confined for the study. Random sampling techniques have been used in the selection of samples. The descriptive method has been adopted, and the primary data was collected using Shah Security-Insecurity Scale (SSIS) developed by Prof.Beena Shah (2010). For analyzing the data, simple percentage and statistical t-test were used, which was specified at a 0.05 level of significance. Results of the study revealed that male doctoral students are found to be more secure than females in the dimensions of Family, University, Peer Group, Prospective and Self. The study also revealed that no female doctoral students are found to be insecure in the dimension of Study and Existence. The findings of this study will be helpful for the educational administrators and policy planners to come up with plans which will improve the condition of doctoral students such as setting up counseling centers, and creating awareness among the scholars and faculties in seeking help.
