Abstract

The early stages of internationalisation are understudied in the literature before showing actual benefits. The entrepreneurial characteristics of internationalisation develop early on, when new multinational firms form to exploit new globalisation opportunities. We use the rise of global new ventures and rapid internationalisation to highlight a set of issues that have slipped through the existing IB frameworks. For newly internationalising enterprises, this research presents an international entrepreneurial dynamics paradigm. This aligns with current entrepreneurship literature: identifying new opportunities, allocating resources to exploit them, and engaging competitors.
