CHINA AS A FACTOR IN SECURITY OF SOUTH ASIA

Abstract:

In this article the author has tried to review the role of China in the security concerns of South Asia, in light of the fact that South Asia is a volatile region for any Nuclear conflict because India, Pakistan and China are Nuclear weapon States. China’s ambition to exercise its power globally starts with its impact on Asia, by trying to handle India by ensuring its military occupation with Pakistan. Ever since the partition of India in 1947 into India, East Pakistan and West Pakistan, there has been hostility in the region. There have been innumerable skirmishes at the borders amongst India- China, India- Pakistan, the civil war in Sri Lanka which have added to the woes of South Asia. The author has tried to analyse China’s equation with Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka in this regard.
