Abstract
Environmental education is considered as a continuous process through which individuals and the community become aware of their environment and acquire the values, skills and will to solve current and future environmental problems. Therefore, this research was carried out with the aim of making the inhabitants of the District of Amarilis aware and acquire good practices to manage solid waste in their community, considering that environmental education should favor the development of integral individuals who face future environmental challenges with objectivity and hope, providing them with resources, responsibility, values and understanding of the effects of their actions on the community and the environment. The community of Amarilis and the members of the District Municipality lack the theoretical and practical knowledge of environmental education; therefore, there is no adequate solid waste management. The objective was to determine how environmental education affects solid waste management in the District Municipality of Amarilis, Huánuco.
