Abstract

Objective. To determine the effect of public management on the creation of formal employment. Methods. A correlational study was conducted with 234 owners of micro and small enterprises in the district of Amarilis, Huánuco, during the year 2019. A public management scale and a formal employment questionnaire were used for data collection. The Chi-Square Test of independence was used in the inferential analysis. Results. 82.1% (192 owners) indicated lack of formal job creation and 65.4% (153 owners) showed low level of public management. On the other hand, public management has an impact on formal job creation, because public management is significantly related to formal job creation, with p≤0.034. And, formal job creation is significantly impacted by public management in the dimensions of Strategic management (p≤0.048), Operational management (p≤0.010) and Participatory management (p≤0.015). Conclusions. Public management has an impact on the creation of formal employment in micro and small business owners in the district of Amarilis, Huánuco.
