LEARNING AND SOLIDARY SERVICE TO STRENGTHEN CITIZENSHIP COMPETENCY IN PERUVIAN UNIVERSITIES

Abstract. The objective of this research is to design a socio-training program based on the methodology of Learning and Solidary Service, to strengthen the citizenship competence of the students of a private Peruvian university. It had a quantitative-qualitative design, because it sought to measure the level of development of citizenship competence presented by the students of the university and the impact of the workshops, as well as to issue a qualitative assessment of the perception of the workshops based on the methodology of Learning and Solidary Service carried out, collecting through direct observation the feelings of the actors involved and their commitments based on the proposal. It was found that the state of development of citizenship competencies in the 815 students of cycles I, II and III of the Universidad Señor de Sipán 36% obtained a Low level. Finally, it was concluded that the implementation of the program based on the SSA methodology obtained positive results, given that the students analyzed the dimensions of their citizenship competencies and developed clear commitments on the improvement and potentiation of these competencies.
