PATIENTS SATISFACTION TOWARD EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS SERVICES IN GOVERNMENTAL HOSPITALS – MEDINA KSA

Abstract

Background: Patient satisfaction had been the main concentrate of a lot of scientific researches and studies throughout worldwide. However, the definition of the patient satisfaction concept is still a point of contention. Patient satisfaction is regarded as measurement of health system quality.[1].

Aims: The aim of the study is to assess satisfaction level of the patients toward the health services provided in emergency departments in governmental hospitals in Medina, KSA

Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional hospital-based study aimed to assess the satisfaction of the patients on the health services provided in emergency departments. The sample size was the total coverage consisted of 167 respondents. The data were collected using interview questionnaire. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences.

Results: The result showed that the overall satisfaction level of patients who attended ED in governmental hospital was 64% satisfied and evaluated their visit with very good or good, were only 14.4% were dissatisfied and evaluated their attendance to ED with bad or weak.

Conclusion: Satisfaction level toward governmental emergency department services in Medina city is relatively high. However, there are different areas need interventions such as amount of waiting time and parking area.
