Abstract
Today, the higher education system has undergone striking changes that are geometrical in growth and are upgraded to fit the industry needs. Curriculum development, teaching methodologies, pedagogical processes, evaluation methods and experiential learning require continuous refining. Many universities today try to balance resource allocation, quality of teachers, student retention and research. Scheduling of courses majorly affects all these areas. On the other hand, Action Research is an effective, time tested methodology which when implemented, has proved to reduce the gap between teaching and student’s performances. This study is an action research carried out in a deemed university to determine the impact of class duration on students attendance, interest levels and performance in the course “Management Principles and Practices for Engineers”. Research questionnaire was prepared and administered to the fourth semester engineering students and the response obtained from them was taken to understand the impact of class duration on students’ interest and academic performance.
